
Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson, born on July 10, 1980 is an American singer-actress, actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. After being a part of churches as a kid, Simpson signed with Columbia Records in 1997, aged seventeen. Sweet Kisses, her first studio album, came out in 1999. The album sold two million copies in the United States. She also achieved commercial success through the single "I Wanna Love You Forever". Simpson's second studio album, Irresistible is a more mature release. The album's title track was Simpson's second-highest charting Billboard Hot 100 entry. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified the album as gold. This Skin (2003) was Simpson's third studio album. It sold three million copies in America. In the beginning of her career, Simpson became known for her relationship with and subsequent wedding to Nick Lachey along with whom she also appeared on MTV reality TV show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica between 2003 and 2005. Simpson made her movie debut in The Dukes of Hazzard (2006) as Daisy Duke after the release of ReJoyce: The Christmas Album (2004). For the film's soundtrack, she also composed an original cover version of "These Boots are Made to Walk" In 2006, she released her fifth studio album A Public Affair and appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. After the release of her sixth studio album, Do You Know (2008), Simpson moved into the genre of country music. Aside from her musical pursuits, Simpson launched The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005, a style-focused line of 34 product categories. It's been the most successful licensed brand for celebrities in the world with more than $1 billion in sales up to the present. In 2010, she played on the reality television show The Price of Beauty. She also acted as a judge for fashions during Fashion Star's two seasons in 2012 and 2013. Simpson is married to Eric Johnson, with whom she has three children.
